About The Sea Cadets

The Sea Cadet Corps is a national youth organisation for boys and girls aged 12 - 18

(with many Units also having Junior Sea Cadets aged 10 - 12).

It is open to all young people, regardless of race, religion or colour and draws

it's members from widely different backgrounds.

(About 20% of Units are in inner city areas).

The Corps is disciplined and uniformed, but it is certainly not para-military,

nor does membership imply a career in the Services or Merchant Navy.

Aims of the Sea Cadet Corps

The aim of the Sea Cadet Corps is to help young people towards responsible

adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards

of conduct using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy.

Through adventurous activities the Cadets become self-reliant, and through

teamwork they develop consideration and respect for others.

The Corps encourages high personal standards and a sense of purpose, and provides

a sound foundation for future careers.
